A complex design: high-class lacquered and wooden veneered cabinets, which have a trapezoid shape and are angled rearward.
The design catches eyes but conduces acoustics, too. The sound of VELA shows it´s family background to successful series 400.
But the advantages are distinct. The angling of the cabinet in combination with the new wave-guide of the JET tweeter improves the definition of stereo and multi-channel audio in modern furnishing. But there are more than the obvious changes. For example the optimized drivers are able to reproduce high-energy transients more precisely.

Supersonic sound from the JET 5 tweeter
Sensational realism and breathtaking top-end clarity are at the very heart of the Elac Vela BS403’s core appeal. Much of this is thanks to the legendary JET 5 tweeter. Using a folded foil membrane, this intricately engineered tweeter reaches an astonishing 50,000Hz. Although this is beyond human hearing, it reduces harmonic distortion lower down the spectrum, meaning the sound we can hear is the sound of total purity.
Hear the smallest details
Equally impressive attention to detail is shown by Elac’s crystal membrane woofer units. The woofer uses aluminium-sandwich technology folded to resemble a large crystal. This provides exceptional rigidity and lightness, giving minimal distortion and letting you hear every tiny detail of music.
Punchy bass
Featuring a downward-firing bass port, the BS403 delivers smooth, punchy bass. The downward port makes the speaker easier to positon in your room and also helps reduce distortion to the lowest levels, ensuring the bass timing is always on the beat.
Sumptuous finish
Every part of the BS403 is finished to the highest standards. At the top, a black anodised aluminium plate enhances the finish. At the base end, the downward-firing port is incorporated in to a die-cast plinth giving both seamless style and immense stability. Choose between black or white high gloss lacquer finishes for contemporary style or an equally sumptuous high gloss walnut veneer for a more traditional appeal.
