Chora 826-D is a loudspeaker equipped with a specific speaker driver that reproduces Dolby Atmos® effects: for ultra-realistic 3D soundtracks and total immersion in the films you watch. Positioned on the top of the loudspeaker, this full-range speaker driver directs the sound towards the ceiling to reflect it back to the listener. Action scenes in the air, pouring rain or a rolling thunder are all brought to life. At the same time, its directional baffle allows you to locate the sounds effects as though you had loudspeakers in the ceiling! Imagine a scene in a house: you hear conversations, but also the noise of cutlery, of footsteps… all of these spatialised in three dimensions as though you were actually there!
Combining French manufacturing and design, this product also incorporates exclusive Focal technologies, particularly the Slatefiber cone of the midrange and bass speaker drivers or the Aluminium/Magnesium TNF tweeter for greater treble clarity.
For example, combined with the Chora Surround and Chora Center speakers, or the Chora Center and Chora 806 speakers, Chora 826-D guarantees a sensational system.

Thanks to the largest cabinet in the Chora series and an impressive range of converters, the 826s with Dolby Atmos are a real tough guy. It is an ideal speaker for larger rooms that has sufficient power at high volume levels. Thanks to its front bass port, this stylish Focal speaker works well when placed closer to the rear wall than speakers with a rear bass port.

DOLBY ATMOS® EFFECT

Dolby Atmos® is a technology developed specifically for audio products. Dolby Atmos®-equipped loudspeakers are “enabled speakers”: in addition to their speaker drivers in the front panel (horizontal channels), they incorporate a speaker driver on the top (vertical channel) which reflects the sound around the entire listening room. This technology also isolates each sound from the original soundtrack and mix, like an independent audio object, for the most detailed sound reproduction. With this technology, the emotion of cinema is transported into the heart of your lounge.

Dolby Atmos speakers – ready to go
Dolby Atmos is one of the biggest hits of recent years in cinema sound. Producing a truly three-dimensional sound, Atmos immerses you in the movie soundtrack, with the sound of overhead aircraft and rain completely believable. Usually you’d need extra ceiling or speaker-top speakers to create Dolby Atmos, but with the Chora 826-D they’re built-in and so ready to go. The speakers also suit DTS:X and other 3D-object based formats.

Perfectly matched for seamless sound
The upward-firing Atmos speakers are perfectly matched to the main speakers, giving a seamless sound and even tone. Focal’s TNF tweeters and Slatefiber cones are ideal for creating a broad, spacious sound. Separate connections for the Atmos speakers let you tailor the individual front/effect levels from your Atmos AV receiver.

Ideal for big-scale, cinematic sound
With the largest cabinet in the Chora range, plus an impressive array of drivers, the 826-D punches hard. The size makes it ideal for larger rooms and effortless performance at high volume levels. Thanks to its front-facing bass port, this stylish Focal speaker works well placed closer to a rear wall than usual.

Twin woofers for thumping bass
This 3-way Focal speaker has not one but two woofers dedicated to bass; in each speaker. Delivering bass response to match many a subwoofer, the Chora 826-D digs deeper and goes louder. Ideal for under-pinning all-action soundtracks or stadium music alike, the Chora 826D delivers expansive, powerful bass.

Time alignment gives enhanced cohesion
The Chora 826-D features a time alignment stand. This tilts the speaker upwards, meaning the sound from the tweeter and woofer is aligned in the time it takes to reach your ears. Time alignment provides better interaction between treble and mid-range, making the music and movies sound more cohesive and ‘together’ across the frequency response.

Slatefiber cone for balanced sound
The three characteristics required for smooth, natural sound from a speaker driver are rigidity, lightness and damping. Focal’s impressive new Slatefiber cone hits all three targets – and then some. Using non-woven, carbon fibres, sandwiched between layers of thermoplastic polymer, the woofer cone provides the perfect composition for smooth, precise sound – whatever the type of music, special effect or dialogue.

TNF tweeters for smooth precision
Derived from the reference Focal Utopia’s Beryllium tweeter, the TNF tweeters use aluminium and magnesium with Poron suspension for an exceptionally smooth yet detailed sound. The Poron surround reduces distortion at a point critical to human hearing, giving silky-smooth treble. The classic Focal inverted dome is also present – helping to give a broader spread of sound in your room.
